Claire is an independent consultant with 16 years experience working with organisations in the EU and UK on developing and delivering environmental and sustainability strategies, projects and plans. 

Claire has been involved in a range of projects bringing together her environmental and sustainability know-how with her knowledge and experience of European funding programmes. Recent projects include developing environmental best practice guidance for SME members of Intellect, the UK’s technology trade association, and developing a European funding proposal for Groundwork London, an environmental regeneration charity.

With a degree in International Marketing and Languages under her belt, Claire left Ireland in 1994 to pursue her interest in environmental issues and do a European Masters in Environmental Management.  

Following the masters she worked for an international NGO based in Hamburg, providing support services to national environmental management associations and developing tools and guidance focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Over nine years working for an Austrian consultancy, first based in Vienna then in Brussels, she supported organisations in the public and private sector, including the European Commission, on improving their environmental performance and developed managed a range of EU-funded projects. 

She came to the UK in 2008 to take on the role of in-house Environmental Manager at the Guardian, where she worked as part of the Guardian’s sustainability team developing and implementing their sustainability strategy. Working as a freelance consultant since 2011, Claire has been involved in a range of projects bringing together her environmental and sustainability know-how with her knowledge and experience of European funding programmes.
